{Freestyle Friday} Ardfield

My favorite part of traveling is discovering unique and off-beat spots to explore and stay. Since we had so much fun staying in farmhouses in Iceland, we decided to spend our nights at bed and breakfasts in Ireland. Most of these ended up being farms about 10-15 miles from the main towns and sites we were visiting and it worked out great because the homes were quiet and often very idyllic.

That was definitely the case at one of my favorite stays in Cork at the Ardfield Farmhouse. This bed and breakfast is also a working horse farm and located on some of the most beautiful land I’ve seen in a long time. We spent all evening sitting outside watching the pony {below!} and horses and slept with the windows open, waking up to birds and fresh air. Ahhh. You won’t find that in DC. Not to mention the breakfast was great, the rate was cheap and Ardfield’s host Bernadette was very lovely.

I plan to write a lot more about our different farm and urban bed and breakfast stays including a roundup of all the places we slept. Each one had their own personality and they were so much more fun to experience than an ordinary hotel.

Anyway, here’s a peek into a evening at Ardfield. If you are going to Ireland and plan to stay near Cork, def check them out! :)

Happy Friday!
