{Weekday Getaway} Glendalough

On our second day in Ireland, in route to Cork, we stopped at Glendalough in County Wicklow. Glendalough is a monastic settlement founded by St. Kevin and was destroyed around 1400. This was our first intro to many super old settlements, castles and churches in Ireland and it was really cool. It was probably one of the more “touristy” spots but still a great place to explore. You don’t get to see 600 + year old graves every day.

After visiting the site we took a walk on one of the less trafficked river trails surrounding the area and saw some amazing views and a little wildlife, too. Our few hours in Glendalough were pretty splendid. :)

More monasteries, castles and landscapes soon!

Happy Fourth of July eve! :)
